Bicycling Exercises for Vein Health, Part 2
More Exercises for Vein Health
Bicycling exercises for vein health are easy and fun to do. Bicycling, even if it is on a stationary bike strengthens your calf muscles, thereby helping pump blood out of your legs and keeping it flowing back toward your heart. Here in Grand Junction where biking is a favorite local pastime, a huge variety of trails wind around the valley just for this purpose. Even the backroads offer safe and enjoyable places to ride.
But what if you don’t have a bicycle? That is where knowing a simple exercise comes in. All you do is lie on your back with your legs in the air. Bend your legs at the knee in a pedaling motion, either one at a time or simultaneously. This exercise, commonly seen in pilates-style workouts is almost as effective as physically riding a bike. You can even add ankle weights to more closely simulate the resistance of bicycling.
These are just a few of the exercises (bicycling or bicycle legs) for vein health that we recommend. Check back next week for another great way to keep your veins and the rest of your body healthy. Be sure to check out Exercises for Vein Health Part 1!
